Healthwatch Leeds was established in April 2013 to bring the voices and experiences of local people to influence the decisions made in their health and care. We use the citizens voices and experiences to work to influence planners, decision makers and service providers in Leeds. The government provides money for each local authority to set up a Healthwatch. Local Healthwatch organisations have the right to go to places where health and care is delivered and report what they find.
What we did:
CML Consultants worked closely with the Chief Executive Officer to support the transition of Healthwatch Leeds to a Community Interest Company (CIC) over the period of a year. The work consisted of detailed action planning at operational level, with a strategic level plan that was monitored by the Board of Directors. Monthly progress review meetings were held with the Chief Executive. A Board Development Day was planned and facilitated to re-think and re-imagine the governance structures for the new CIC and to work through the roles and responsibilities that would be necessary.
Alongside this, CML Consultants also reviewed the full suite of Policies and Procedures for Healthwatch Leeds – Safeguarding, Data Protection, Confidentiality, Equality and Diversity, and more – cross-referencing them to ensure consistency within and between policies and procedures, simplifying them as much as possible, and recommending a standardised format and wording.
“As a Healthwatch in the process of moving on to full independence, Catherine’s support and expert project management skill have made our transition easier.”Chief Executive Officer, Healthwatch Leeds
